Postdoctoral Fellow in antenna engineering

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Associate interested in antenna engineering, in particular, modeling, design and optimization of circularly polarized antennas and antenna arrays and related structures. The research is under the supervision of Prof. Slawomir Koziel in the Engineering Optimization & Modeling Center at the School of Science and Engineering in Reykjavik University, Iceland.

The expected start date of the position is August 2017 with a minimum appointment of one year, and the possibility of renewal for another year.

A Ph.D. in antenna or microwave engineering, or a related field, from a leading institution with a strong publication record, and sound understanding of the fundamentals of antenna design with the emphasis on circularly polarized (CP) antennas, electromagnetic analysis, working knowledge of commercial EM and circuit simulation tools (CST, HFSS, Keysight ADS, FEKO) is required. Topics of particular interest include numerical modeling and optimization of antennas, development of novel CP antenna structures, and antenna measurements.

The research project makes extensive use of full-wave EM modeling, commercial EM simulation software packages (CST, HFSS, FEKO, etc.), as well as development of Matlab-based modeling and optimization codes (working knowledge of Matlab environment is required from the candidate). For more information, please contact Prof. Koziel (koziel@ru.is).

Engineering Optimization & Modeling Center offers access to state-of-the-art facilities including computational facilities (both hardware- and software-wise), fabrication facilities for rapid antenna and microwave prototyping, as well as high-frequency measurement lab including an anechoic chamber.
