The Nanonphysics Center at Reykjavík University (nano.ru.is) has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher for a two-year position, extendable to three years, in the field of vacuum electronics and coherent radiation. The succesful candidate will collaborate on efforts to design and carry out an experiment to generate THz radiation from space charge induced current modulation in vacuum microdiodes.
The project is primarily experimental, with some simulation involved, and is done in collaboration with partners at the Iceland Innovation Center, University of Texas, Arlington, Boise State University and Imperial College, London. The job duties for this position are primarily the design and construction of the microdiode system, design of the outcoupling device from the diode and in THz detection.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Materials Science or related fields. Experience with experimental vacuum electronics, microwave engineering and microstructures is advantageous.
