The School of Science and Engineering at Reykjavik University is looking for a PhD student to join the project DeepUtil: Efficient Utilization of Deep Geothermal Fluid. The project is a collaboration between Reykjavik University, University of Iceland and a number of industrial partners and aims at developing technical solutions that enable utilization of high enthalpy geothermal fluid from deep wells.
The successful candidate will contribute to:
- Analysis of energy conversion cycles for utilization of deep geothermal fluid
- Development of chemical mitigation equipment for utilization of deep geothermal fluid
- Heat exchanger design for geothermal fluid with high mineral content
The position is for three years and the successful applicant will be based at Reykjavík University in Iceland.
Qualifications: The candidate should have an MSc in engineering, geoscience or related fields. It is preferable if the applicant has a background or strong interest in:
- Geothermal utilization
- Material science
- Thermodynamics
- Heat and mass transfer
- Chemical engineering
